Today we’re going to talk about the wedding venue Rancho de las Palmas in Moorpark, California and why it makes me swoon as a wedding photographer!! There are a lot of venues to choose from, especially here in Southern California. The options can seem overwhelming but as a wedding photographer I know what you want to be looking for in your venue. So let’s do this! Today we’re going through what makes Rancho de Las Palmas a stunning venue.
The couples that I work with will often ask what they need to do to have perfect ceremony photos. And the truth is that the best thing you can do is think in terms of lighting! When working with natural light there are a lot of factors that go into creating an incredible image. That list can include the weather, time of day, time of year, and altitude.
When planning your wedding, you’re going to hire a photographer (like me!) who can work in all types of lighting situations and can advise you individually how to best situate yourself to get incredible ceremony photos.
So. As a wedding photographer, this is why I love the space:
There are SO MANY OPTIONS.
As I’m sure you’re Googling something along the lines of “Rancho de las Palmas wedding venue” you’re seeing a wide variety of photos. This is SUCH a good thing! Variety is incredibly valuable and it helps to ensure that your entire wedding gallery will be a cohesive aesthetic – not just the posed photos in one prime location.

They got ready at Emily’s family home, which is where we took shots of her dress along with photos with her cute pup! Emily put on her dress and additional bridal accessories at Rancho de las Palmas.
Brace yourself for another reason why Rancho de las Palmas is a great venue.
The venue does the heavy lifting for decor!
One thing that shocks couples about wedding planning is the price of florals. What I love about Rancho de las Palmas is that the venue is full of flowers and greenery at every turn.
See what I mean about the venue being stunning at every turn? These candid moments are everyyyyything.
Let’s go through some of my favorite parts of Emily and Mike’s day and how their Southern California wedding photos turned out!
They decided to skip a first look and save that moment for the aisle. However, If you’re looking for inspiration for a first look, check out this post!
Instead of a first look between the bride and groom, we did a first look with the bride and her dad! It was such a special moment that they were able to share before the ceremony. Plus, there was no stress in orchestrating that first look moment because the Rancho de las Palmas is so large. The groom was tucked away on the other side of the venue. A win-win!
And now for my favorite part of the day – bride and groom portraits!!
We popped out to the field to catch the final rays of the sunset and I think it was well worth it!
The rest of their wedding day included toasts, cake cutting, getting down on the dance floor, and a sparkler exit! Keep scrolling, you won’t want to miss these Rancho de las Palmas wedding photos!
All in all, Rancho de las Palmas is a stunning Southern California venue that serves as a backdrop for incredible wedding photos. It has all the pieces of the puzzle and I’m simply in love!
