Jerika & Patrick live in NYC, so they incorporated the big city in their downtown Los Angeles engagement session. I’m so here for it!
While LA is known for the beach (and I shoot there frequently!), I looooove downtown. It’s one of those locations where you can find lots of variety within a short walk.
Since Jerika and Patrick live in New York, it took some coordination in order to make this engagement session happen. I always include an engagement session for my wedding clients and in this gallery (and their wedding gallery!) you’ll see exactly why. They both claimed they would make weird faces the whole time, but please. Just scroll a little bit for me. Don’t they look fabulous??!
Let’s talk about why I include an engagement session in my wedding packages!
Yep, you read that right. All of my wedding packages include a complimentary engagement session! You might be thinking, “We don’t need an engagement session.” or “We’re already so awkward in front of the camera, we don’t need more awkward photos!” Well read on, my friend.
Your engagement session is where we get out the jitters.
This is the time where we first get to know each other. I’ll ask you allllll about how you got engaged and you’ll hear me crack some bad dad jokes. Instead of meeting for the first time as you get ready, it will feel like having an old friend there on your team. I’ll spend a large chunk of your wedding at your side, so I’ve learned that it’s always better for us to have a relationship beforehand.
I’ll also learn how you interact with your partner.
One of my favorite parts of my job is how many different types of people I get to meet. Every couple is unique and has their own special connection. That means that no two couples interact the same way! It also means that I need to adjust my direction to each couple that I work with. This session is where I get a sense for your personalities and how to get the best photos of you. Without the engagement session it takes longer on the wedding day to get in the swing of things. And the last thing you have an abundance of on your wedding day is time!
