Wow, this Hnypt LA wedding in downtown Los Angeles hopefully will change your mind about urban LA weddings. I don’t know about you, but when I think of a California wedding I immediately think of the beach! Fortunately the city of Los Angeles has SO MUCH variety when it comes to venues. (You’ll see that as you scroll through the blog. Not a repeat venue in sight!) You can get married in the city, at the beach, in a garden, in the desert, in a church, etc, etc. Endless possibilities, my friends!

Here’s what’s great about a Hnypt LA wedding – the venue is a blank canvas! White walls in an industrial-vibey setting. You can really transform it any way you wish. And Rachel and Josh sure transformed it into quite the romantic space for their nuptials!

The beginning of the day started out with the bridesmaids at the Proper Hotel and the groomsmen down the street at the Ace Hotel. We photographed them getting ready in each respective space and then met up together at the Hnypt, which was a few blocks away from each hotel. A Hnypt LA wedding is great because the streets surrounding the venue are pretty cute. Downtown venues can sometimes be situated in parts of town that are less than glamorous (even if the venue itself is great!). Fortunately you’ll find really cute streets for all of the important portraits.

Something I love about weddings is how every single one is tailored to the couple. And Rachel and Josh decided to do some things their own way! For example, they did a first look, but didn’t want it photographed. Instead just wanted some alone time together on their wedding day and I LOVE that. It was important to Rachel to preserve that special time with Josh, so we made that happen!

Rachel & Josh’s first dance was everything of the sort! They choreographed their first dance, and Rachel’s dress was probably the best prop they ever could have asked for. Josh pulled out all the stops with a couple of lifts and spins, and her dress performed!!
